بیشترFor more than a century geoscientists had related tectonic to sedimentation by associating geosynclines with thick accumulations of sedimentation. Until the middle of 20th century, sedimentary basins were still rationalized and classified in terms of geosynclinal theory (Dott, 1978), including the publication of "Geology of Indonesia" in 1949 ...

بیشترThis volume was derived from a symposium, Tectonics and Sedimentation that was held at the AAPG/SEPM Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California on May 15, 1973. The obvious impetus for a collection of papers on tectonics and sedimentation at the time was the sweeping impact of the developments of plate-tectonic theory on geological concepts.

بیشترUnderstanding Tectonics with Sandbox Models. Sandbox models are a great way to understand how tectonic forces, sedimentation and erosion result in the formation of different geological structures and their surface expressions. Geological processes are slow; so slow in fact that most of these difficult to comprehend and understand in the natural ...

بیشترThe sedimentation history reveals that the lake-basin scale started with expansion, and then gradually declined toward the eastern depocenter. During the early Cretaceous, a reconstructed dynamic model for basin-range evolution reveals the three evolution phases of proto-rift, fault subsidence, and transpression in the Fuxin area.
بیشترThe Sylhet trough, a sub-basin of the Bengal Basin in northeastern Bangladesh, contains a thick fill (12 to 16 km) of late Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata that record its tectonic evolution. Stratigraphic, sedimentologic, and petrographic data collected from outcrops, cores, well logs, and seismic lines are used to reconstruct the history of this trough. -from Authors...
بیشتر2. TECTONICS AND SEDIMENTATION 2.1 Tectonics is the most important control on sedimentation; climate is a rather distant second. The important effects of tectonics on sedimentation, direct or indirect, include the following: • nature of sediment • rate of sediment supply • rate of deposition •
بیشترReport of a joint meeting of the Tectonic Studies Group and the British Sedimentological Research Group of the Geological Society held at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth on 10–12 April 1986. The organizers were Dr W. R. Fitches and Dr N. H. Woodcock. Research into the Early Palaeozoic history of Wales is like that history itself; eventful and rarely quiescent.
بیشتر12%Introduction. Sedimentation is influenced by three extrinsic variables: tectonics, climate, and sea level, with the latter two potentially dependent upon each other and upon tectonics. In addition, sedimentation is affected by processes inherent to the depositional system, which act independently of the extrinsic variables.

بیشترSedimentological research on the Scottish Dalradian has progressed from the recognition of sedimentary structures in the 1930s, via the identification of sedimentary facies from the 1950s onwards, to the integration, in the 1970s, of sedimentological data with that from studies of stratigraphy, tectonics and volcanism. This has now led to an understanding of the pre-orogenic evolution of the ...

بیشتر12%Sedimentation and tectonics. All sedimentation is related at least remotely to tectonics ( Dickinson, 1974 ). Tectonic forces produce uplifts whose erosion products are a source of sediments; tectonic forces produce downwarps and basins that are a trap for sediments. The tectonic relationships of the sediments vary between extremes of direct ...

بیشترThe architecture of sedimentary basins reflects the relationship between accommodation space and sediment supply, their rates and localization being variable during basin evolution. The mechanisms driving the interplay between tectonics and sedimentation in extensional back-arc basins overlying rheological weak zones inherited from an earlier orogenic evolution are less understood.
بیشترSediment supply is controlled primarily by tectonics and climate. In geologically simple areas, where the basin is fed directly from the adjacent margins and source-area uplift is related to basin subsidence, supply considerations are likely to be directly correlated to basin subsidence and eustasy as the major controls of basin architecture.
بیشترsedimentation, in the geological sciences, process of deposition of a solid material from a state of suspension or solution in a fluid (usually air or water). Broadly defined it also includes deposits from glacial ice and those materials collected under the impetus of gravity alone, as in talus deposits, or accumulations of rock debris at the base of cliffs.
