The aim of this article is to investigate the effects of electromagnetic force on primary particle distribution of in-situ Al/Mg 2 Si functionally graded materials (FGMs) by electromagnetic separation method. Experimental results show that there is a critical value of electromagnetic force. The FGMs can be produced only when the electromagnetic force is beyond the critical value.
