It has not changed, it's just that each map maker decides how to represent map elements. If you look at OpenStreetMap site, paths are represented different from wikiloc and mine. Tracks are sometimes labeled with a grade. I can find definitions of the grades on the OpenStreetMap Wiki.

The OSM data (which is the source of the map data Garmin uses in the default maps provided on the unit) classify that path as "unpaved". Maybe, somebody changed the classification recently. I wonder if automobile routing might be more reliable, although I saw a thread saying it's broken at the moment.

"Unpaved roads" are typically only suitable for off-road vehicles. The routing settings are required for both Base Camp and in the GPS device. The shorter the distance the "better" routing result (e.g. <30 km). Road barriers such as bollards are currently not consideredfor routing. Recommendation for BaseCamp 4.x and GPS device:

From what I can tell, the field MAP_ROAD_UNPAVED_CLR is equivalent to the Garmin Type Code 0x0a, since it is showing those roads in a nice blue: But the Zumo XT is not picking up the custom style from the TYP file for the red tracks that I want, here you can see the lines that are thick gray are supposed to be red based on the TYP file spec:

Both OSM and CN appear to have pretty much the same roads on them. It's possible that OSM might have more 'trails' (off-road information), but I didn't investigate this, because my ST1100 is pretty much a pavement-only motorcycle. CN contains far more 'road attributes' than OSM (paved vs. unpaved, road width, speed limits, etc.).
